A Unanet Case Study
Cygnus Aerospace, a service‑disabled veteran‑owned small business founded in 2003 that provides aircraft modification services to the U.S. Department of Defense, was hamstrung by QuickBooks and paper‑based processes. Compliance‑related accounting and manual timesheet/expense workflows consumed about 105 hours per month, provided no real‑time project visibility, and threatened the company’s ability to scale profitably.
In early 2015 Cygnus implemented Unanet ERP GovCon (about a six‑month rollout) to automate timesheets, expense reporting, billing, subcontractor tracking, mobile field entry and real‑time dashboards. Accounting effort fell from ~105 to ~27 hours/month (saving ~78 hours), ROI exceeded twice the software cost each month, DCAA compliance and subcontractor visibility improved, hiring was avoided on large projects, and leadership gained timely, accurate program profitability and decision‑making.
