Midwood, a $2 billion family real estate office with 140 properties across the U.S., needed a better way to evaluate investment and development opportunities in fast-changing urban markets. Vice-president of Investments Stefan Martinovic and his team were looking for reliable location data to understand neighborhood performance, migration patterns, demographic shifts, and retail recovery across their core markets, while also reducing the complexity of analyzing multiple data sources.

Using Unacast’s location data platform, including Neighborhood Insights and POI datasets, Midwood built a proprietary GIS-based scoring system to benchmark block- and neighborhood-level mobility and performance. With Unacast, Midwood can compare foot traffic and demographic trends over time, identify anomalies and outliers, and support investment committee decisions with clearer, more actionable analytics; while the case study does not cite a specific financial lift, it highlights improved insight, faster decision-making, and a more effective way to assess market recovery and opportunity.
