Case Study: Thames Water achieves a secure, scalable digital platform with Umbraco

A Umbraco Case Study

Thames Water migrates 700 pages to Umbraco for a secure, scalable customer platform

Thames Water, the UK's largest water and wastewater services provider, needed to replace its unstable and costly Sitecore platform. Their primary customer website had to be secure, performant, and able to handle massive traffic spikes during service incidents, but the existing system presented performance, editorial, and commercial challenges.

The solution was a migration to a cloud-hosted, headless architecture using Umbraco, specifically Umbraco Cloud. By gradually moving nearly 700 pages to the new platform, Thames Water built a scalable and reliable digital foundation. The results included significant reductions in technical complexity and infrastructure costs, empowered over 100 content editors, and created a future-ready platform for their 16 million customers.
