Team Danmark, the Danish elite sports organization, needed a simpler, lighter-weight website and decided to move from Sitecore to Umbraco as a headless CMS. Having already used Umbraco on their intranet, they chose Umbraco (headless Umbraco 7) to reduce complexity, improve performance and editorial ease while keeping the site secure and modern.

Umbraco was implemented as a headless solution with separate frontend and backend instances, Redis and RabbitMQ, a .NET Core + Angular 2 frontend and Elasticsearch for search and data sorting, integrating daily with Team Danmark’s internal APIs. The Umbraco-based site simplified navigation (one-level menu, grid layout) and delivered measurable gains: +7% users, +12% sessions and +10% average time on site, while providing faster, more intuitive editing and a better visitor experience.
