St Austell Brewery - Customer Case Study

St Austell Brewery, a Cornish brewer in operation since 1851, needed to transform its digital presence to improve efficiency and support future growth for its large free-trade product range. The existing catalogue lived in Excel and seasonal brochures, which made discovery and ordering inefficient and overly reliant on a road-based salesforce. To address this, the project re-platformed St Austell’s sites using Umbraco (with delivery support from True Digital) to create a B2B-facing St Austell Family Group site and a wholesale proposition as a first step toward full e-commerce.

Using Umbraco to power the new site, the team launched a browsable, supermarket-style wholesale interface with clear SKU hierarchy, order-enquiry flow, promo management and supplier-led monetisation, designed as a phased rollout alongside ERP changes. Since the December 2019 launch the site has received very positive feedback and — crucially — helped St Austell Brewery generate an entirely new revenue stream through supplier-led sales promotions, while improving product discovery and nudging customers toward self-service ordering.
