Powering up National Grid's training portal with Umbraco CMS

National Grid, one of the world’s largest investor-owned utilities with more than 22,000 employees, needed a user-friendly Virtual Learning Environment to deliver training, track skill levels and automate progression. Working with Cold Banana, they built a new intranet-style training portal on Umbraco CMS to centralize training, skills data and communications.

Using Umbraco CMS, Cold Banana implemented a custom VLE with notifications, a coach area, graphical skill dashboards, video training and automated progression. The Umbraco-based solution increased reporting and visibility across staff progression, gave coaches event and communication tools, and provided employees a clear, real-time view of their skills and development.
