A Umbraco Case Study
The Pony Club, an international voluntary youth organisation with over 110,000 members and hundreds of branches and centres, came to Spindogs because its ageing website was confusing visitors with three navigation bars, duplicated content and unclear calls to action — problems that made it hard for potential members to find information and likely cost sign-ups. To address this, the project selected the Umbraco CMS as the platform to support a modern, accessible and mobile-first site and a clearer content structure.
Using Umbraco, the team rebuilt the user journey and content model: they consolidated navigation into a single bar with a burger menu, removed duplicate pages, added a drop-down decision-tree to surface the correct membership type, and created a tagged “Find a Pony Club” page and filtered search to point users to local branches. The result is a mobile-friendly, easier-to-navigate site that streamlines membership discovery and branch contact, simplifies content management through Umbraco’s tagging and microsite capabilities, and is designed to reduce enquiries to HQ and improve member sign-ups (no specific metrics were reported).
