Stantec certifies imported soils as roadway fill with Ultrasystems for Anaheim grade separation project expected in 2016

Ultrasystems Environmental was subcontracted by Stantec to address biological and paleontological monitoring challenges for the Orangethorpe Avenue and Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive railroad grade separation project in California. The project required monitoring to protect biological resources and fossils during construction, as well as characterizing potentially hazardous imported fill materials to ensure they were safe for use.

The solution implemented by Ultrasystems included providing on-site paleontological monitoring for all ground-disturbing work and conducting biological monitoring to identify sensitive resources, including bird nesting observations. Ultrasystems also performed soil sampling and analysis on imported fill. As a result, Ultrasystems certified the soils as environmentally suitable for the project, and they routinely prepared reports detailing their monitoring methods and findings to support the project's successful completion.
