Ultrasystems Environmental was contracted by POLA, the Port of Los Angeles, to conduct comprehensive water quality monitoring for five separate dredging projects. The challenge was to ensure compliance with the port's wastewater discharge permits by meticulously tracking environmental parameters during dredging activities at multiple berths.

The solution implemented by Ultrasystems involved suspended solid sampling and the collection of chemistry samples from the water column, all analyzed per EPA guidelines. They recorded oceanographic and biological field data as directed by the permit. Ultrasystems compiled all data into a final summary report for POLA to submit to the regional water board, ensuring full regulatory compliance for the dredging operations.
