Metropolitan Water District completes 29.7-mile pipeline rehabilitation on time and within budget with Ultrasystems Environmental

Ultrasystems Environmental was engaged by the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) to address a challenge involving the proposed rehabilitation of a 29.7-mile underground pipeline running from Orange County to Los Angeles County. MWD needed to identify any significant hazardous material issues along the pipeline's alignment that could impact the construction's feasibility, cost, and schedule.

Ultrasystems implemented a solution that involved extensive research of regulatory databases and aerial photographs to pinpoint areas of environmental concern, followed by site visits. They then prepared a detailed workplan for environmental field sampling, including recommendations for installing groundwater monitoring equipment. The report and workplan from Ultrasystems were accepted by MWD, and the project was completed successfully both on time and within budget.
