Los Angeles Housing Department delivers a Final Brownfields Report with Ultrasystems Environmental

The Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) faced the challenge of facilitating infill and mixed-use housing development, requiring an assessment of potential brownfield sites as part of a state grant application. To address this, they engaged Ultrasystems Environmental for its expertise in brownfields studies and GIS services.

Ultrasystems implemented a solution that included creating a geographic database with ESRI software to identify contaminated sites suitable for redevelopment. They delivered a comprehensive Final Brownfields Report containing a list of candidate sites, examples of successful adaptive reuse programs from other cities, and survey results from developers. This work provided the LAHD with the necessary planning foundation to pursue housing development on previously underutilized land.
