A Ultrasystems Environmental Case Study
Los Angeles County Public Works faced the challenge of upgrading an aging waterline along Carbon Canyon Road while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The project area was within a sensitive coastal zone and potentially impacted an Environmentally Sensitive Habitat Area. Ultrasystems Environmental was contracted to provide biological consulting services, including surveys and regulatory coordination.
Ultrasystems conducted a reconnaissance-level biological survey and a tree inventory, cataloging over 60 native trees within the project site. Their solution involved producing a biological assessment report and coordinating with the City of Malibu and state agencies to develop appropriate avoidance measures. The efforts by Ultrasystems were designed to ensure potential impacts to protected habitats were reduced to a less than significant level, enabling the critical infrastructure project to move forward in compliance with all regulations.
