Case Study: Kiewit reduces hotel noise impacts with UltraSystems Environmental

Kiewit uses Ultrasystems Environmental to assess 10-mile I-405 HOV lane noise impacts at Hotel Angeleno

The customer, Kiewit Construction, faced a challenge during the reconstruction of the Sunset Boulevard Bridge, as the noise from demolition and pile-driving activities threatened to significantly impact the adjacent Hotel Angeleno. Ultrasystems Environmental was engaged to conduct specialized frequency-specific noise measurements to assess the building's existing sound attenuation.

Ultrasystems performed detailed interior and exterior noise measurements and prepared a comprehensive report. Their analysis determined the hotel's structure would not provide sufficient noise attenuation, exposing guests to significant disruption. Ultrasystems then identified several mitigation strategies. Based on this, the project proponent chose to lease the affected hotel rooms, successfully avoiding noise impacts to the public during construction.
