City of Fontana improves 1.25 miles of safe school routes with Ultrasystems Environmental

The City of Fontana required cultural resource services for its Safe Routes to School Pedestrian Improvements Project, which involved installing new bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. The project's environmental assessment, mandated for state funding and NEPA compliance, needed to include a Historical Properties Survey Report. To meet this challenge, the city enlisted Ultrasystems Environmental.

Ultrasystems Environmental prepared the required Historical Properties Survey Report, which included an Archaeological Survey Report and Area of Potential Effect maps. Their work involved comprehensive site surveys, records searches, and outreach to Native American tribes. The completed reports were successfully approved by both Caltrans District 8 and the California Office of Historic Preservation, enabling the project to proceed. This infrastructure project will safely serve over 5,000 school children and 25,000 area residents.
