WERCSmart powers Kroger’s product compliance program

Kroger, a leading U.S. grocer, needed a better way to manage product compliance across a complex retail operation. With help from UL Solutions and its WERCSmart software, Kroger worked to collect and validate product attribute data during onboarding and determine the regulatory requirements tied to each SKU.

UL Solutions implemented WERCSmart along with ItemSync and ItemScan to connect compliance data to supplier onboarding and frontline store workflows, giving staff quick access to handling and disposal instructions. The result was a major improvement in compliance, with in-scope product compliance rates increasing to over 90%, while Kroger also used UL Solutions PurView to assess chemical safety and sustainability attributes for safer, more transparent product curation.
