Case Study: Inxpect achieves first UL Listed safety radar certification with UL Solutions

UL Solutions succeeded in outlining the path to successfully certify the LBK System under a new Certification Requirement Decision

Inxpect, an Italian company founded in 2015, develops safety systems for advanced industrial automation and robotics based on radar technology. As it expanded from security applications into human-machine safety, it faced a major challenge: no UL standard had previously addressed radar as a sensing technique for safety sensors, making certification for a new class of products especially difficult.

UL Solutions helped Inxpect create a path to certification through a new Certification Requirement Decision aligned with IEC 61496-3, enabling the LBK System to become the first radar system with a UL Listing as a safety device and the first UL Certified device under the new CRD specification. UL Solutions also supported testing during the pandemic through local engineering resources and Data Acceptance Program requirements, allowing Inxpect to complete the process on time and move toward launching the first safety radars with a UL Mark.
