UL Evaluates the Durability and Recyclability of GUESS? Denim Garments

GUESS?, Inc. partnered with UL Solutions to evaluate its denim garments against the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign guidelines. The challenge was to prove the jeans were durable enough for consumers and made with at least 98% cellulose-based material to support recyclability, while also maintaining premium product quality.

UL Solutions tested the garments for durability and recyclability, including 30 home-laundering cycles plus checks for appearance, tensile strength, tear strength, and component fiber content. The results confirmed that GUESS?’s denim met the initiative’s requirements, qualified for a “Machine Wash Cold, Line Dry” label, and could carry The Jeans Redesign logo on hang tags, helping the brand advance its circular fashion goals.
