Physicians Realty Trust’s ESG Report Establishes Strategy for Ongoing Investment in Sustainability

Physicians Realty Trust, a publicly traded healthcare real estate investment trust with nearly 270 properties across 36 states, wanted to strengthen its sustainability and ESG strategy while preparing its inaugural ESG report. The company partnered with UL Solutions, using UL’s Services for Healthy Buildings program to benchmark indoor air quality and conduct water inspections as part of its broader reporting and sustainability efforts.

UL Solutions helped Physicians Realty Trust develop an environmental management system with multiyear environmental goals, establish performance baselines, and create data reporting tools to track progress. The inaugural ESG report, released in 2020, set targets to reduce carbon emissions, water use, and energy use by 10% over three years while increasing waste diversion, and it also aligned the company’s objectives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
