Case Study: White Glacier achieves certification for polar immersion suits with UL Solutions

A UL Solutions Case Study

Preview of the White Glacier Case Study

Extreme Testing of Personal Flotation Devices for Survival in Polar Waters

White Glacier, a provider of cold water immersion survival suits, needed to certify its next-generation Arctic 10+ suit for use in the U.S., Canada, and Europe while meeting demanding delivery deadlines for an order of 600 suits. The company also wanted to prove its innovative suit could outperform traditional neoprene designs in buoyancy, thermal protection, and fire resistance, and it chose UL Solutions as its testing and certification partner.

UL Solutions helped White Glacier simultaneously test, verify, and certify the A10+ suit to USCG, Transport Canada, and EU Marine Equipment Directive requirements, with additional cold water testing conducted through a partner laboratory in Norway. The suit earned all three certifications, also meeting Polar Code requirements, and the certification process helped White Glacier improve the product design based on test results while still delivering the 600-suit order on time.
