Complementing the Social Auditing Process through Customized Risk Assessment Solutions

NBCUniversal, a leading global media company with an extensive supply chain, needed a better way to identify high-risk suppliers before conducting onsite social compliance audits. To support its sustainability, transparency, and risk management goals, NBCUniversal worked with UL Solutions and its Responsible Sourcing group to complement its existing social compliance program with more timely and efficient risk assessment capabilities.

UL Solutions helped NBCUniversal develop customized risk criteria and quantitative risk calculators that combined supplier information with global social, economic, and political indices. The solution supported both a Waiver Program for direct suppliers and an Exemption Program for brands with their own compliance programs, giving NBCUniversal clearer visibility into supplier risk and enabling faster, more confident sourcing decisions. Since launch, UL Solutions has evaluated hundreds of direct suppliers and dozens of brands, helping NBCUniversal maintain longer-lasting and more trustworthy business relationships.
