A Ubuntu Case Study
Server Density provides fully managed server and website monitoring services, but its earlier CentOS-based environment made updates infrequent and manual, limiting innovation and making it harder to stay secure and meet PCI compliance requirements. To improve operations, Server Density turned to Ubuntu and Canonical’s Landscape management tool to support its growing monitoring platform.
Ubuntu enabled Server Density to automate updates and patching across its server estate, strengthen security, and maintain PCI compliance while speeding access to new developer tools and features. The company also replaced proprietary load-balancing hardware with Ubuntu software load balancers, cutting load balancing costs from $2,000 a month to $300 a month and reducing administration overhead.
