Screenly innovates IoT fleet management for secure digital signage

Screenly, a San Francisco-based digital signage company, needed a better way to keep its fast-growing IoT fleet secure and up to date. With more than 10,000 screens across 75 countries, its existing home-grown OTA update infrastructure struggled to manage patches reliably, creating risks around security, stability, and downtime. Ubuntu Core was selected as the best fit for Screenly’s fleet-management challenge.

Ubuntu implemented Ubuntu Core with an IoT App Store to enable seamless over-the-air updates for devices in the field. The solution solved partial update and version-mismatch issues, improved security and stability, and eliminated the cost of maintaining in-house update infrastructure.
