Rigado, a provider of scalable and secure infrastructure for commercial IoT deployments, needed a way to simplify its gateway software and reduce time-to-market. After evaluating several container options, Rigado turned to Ubuntu Core and snaps from Ubuntu, along with Ubuntu Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for AWS-based development.

Ubuntu helped Rigado redesign its gateway software using Ubuntu Core and snaps, and also supported rapid deployment of Linux instances in AWS through Ubuntu AMIs. The result was a faster development and go-to-market process, with the case study noting that customers can shave up to a year off development and launch timelines, while Rigado also gained a reliable long-term support platform for gateways expected to stay in the field for at least five years.
