JT Global standardises mission-critical production system on Ubuntu

JT Global, formerly Jersey Telecom, is a leading communications provider in the Channel Islands that serves 38,000 ADSL subscribers. As its IT infrastructure grew more complex and difficult to manage, JT Global needed a way to reduce workloads and lower datacentre costs, so it chose Ubuntu 10.04 LTS for its mission-critical production systems.

Ubuntu helped JT Global migrate to a single, highly stable operating system and build a virtualised Ubuntu-based server farm. This improved hardware utilisation, sped up resource and service provisioning, and reduced hardware, power, and cooling costs, delivering estimated datacentre savings of £2,800 per year.
