IMS Evolve adopts Ubuntu Core to provide IIoT-enabled business intelligence in the supply chain

IMS Evolve, founded in 1999, delivers scalable IoT cold‑chain solutions that monitor millions of data points every minute across nearly 98,000 sites in 12 countries. Faced with the twin challenges of preventing food spoilage and improving asset and energy efficiency without costly equipment replacement, the company needed a resilient, secure edge solution to unlock data from legacy refrigeration, transport and store systems.

IMS Evolve deployed Dell Edge Gateways running Ubuntu Core, using containerized snaps and OTA updates to securely collect, contextualize and act on edge data from serial and IP devices. The solution processes over 24 million data points per minute and 325,000 automated transactions, delivering ~99.98% asset availability, 15–20% overall cost savings, an ~80% reduction in central incident‑management effort and about $7M in energy savings in one year.
