Kinopoisk, the Russian film website similar to IMDb, needed a new server infrastructure that would simplify maintenance and scale to support its fast-growing audience and heavy traffic. After testing other platforms, the company chose Ubuntu Server Edition to help manage its email, file and print, and business-critical web workloads.

Ubuntu implemented 15 Ubuntu Server Edition servers for Kinopoisk, and the infrastructure was deployed in less than three days. The result was a dramatic improvement in operations: upgrade times dropped from several days to around 15 minutes, new servers could be deployed faster, and Kinopoisk gained greater confidence in the reliability, availability, and ongoing support of its platform.
