Cyberport offers innovative cloud-based services for Hong Kong’s technology entrepreneurs

Cyberport, Hong Kong’s digital community for technology entrepreneurs, needed a secure and affordable way to provide on-demand infrastructure and services to local start-ups. After early cloud attempts exposed security issues and lacked a clear path forward, Cyberport turned to Ubuntu, using OpenStack and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to build its new cloud environment.

Ubuntu helped Cyberport deploy a stable, secure, and cost-effective open-source cloud that could scale without extra licensing fees. The platform now serves 16 local IT-intensive tenants via self-service access, supports live streaming for around 20 cinemas, and powers animation rendering for more than 30 school teams, while also enabling Cyberport to expand services and share cloud expertise across the region.
