Case Study: BotsAndUs achieves a streamlined path to production with Ubuntu

A Ubuntu Case Study

BotsAndUs builds a social robot on Ubuntu

BotsAndUs is a London-based start-up that builds Bo, a social robot for retail, hospitality and events. Bringing Bo to market required navigating complex hardware and software needs—proprietary sensors like the Intel RealSense system and the Robot Operating System (ROS)—so the team needed a widely supported, versatile OS that would simplify integration and manufacturing for an embedded robotics product.

BotsAndUs selected Ubuntu 16.04 for its broad hardware support, strong vendor ecosystem and native compatibility with ROS. That choice reduced integration friction, sped development, and unlocked community resources, helping the company move Bo from prototype to live trials with clients including BT, intu and Etisalat and accelerating its path to production.
