A Ubuntu Case Study
azeti networks is a global IoT provider whose Site Controller software monitors and automates remote industrial assets at the edge, helping customers in telecoms, manufacturing, oil & gas and healthcare run equipment continuously with minimal downtime. The company needed a stable, secure and efficient platform that could operate 24/7 and support fast, reliable updates — but maintaining its own Linux distribution made packaging and deployment slow and labor-intensive, limiting agility and increasing risk.
azeti moved its gateway installs to Ubuntu Core on Dell Edge Gateway 5000 hardware and packaged its Site Controller as a snap, enabling simple Snapcraft-based builds, rapid distribution and strong confinement. The snap-based, read-only system improved isolation and security, sped up deployments, reduced operating and cloud/bandwidth costs, and cut the risk of costly downtime — potentially saving hundreds of man-hours while protecting equipment and improving overall efficiency.
