Agora Games makes dramatic time and cost savings with Ubuntu

Agora Games, a fast-growing gaming company that builds online communities and video-game middleware, needed an IT environment that could scale with rising demand and handle usage spikes more efficiently. Working with Terremark, it turned to Ubuntu Server Edition and VMware to replace a fragmented setup that was becoming difficult and time-consuming to manage.

Ubuntu helped Agora Games standardize its infrastructure, introduce 75 virtual servers, and reduce its physical server count from 40 to 25. The result was faster provisioning, simpler systems management, and major time and cost savings, with server setup time dropping from about a week to around 10 minutes and enough efficiency gained to equate to hiring two additional full-time system administrators.
