Case Study: Brighton and Hove City Council achieves secure, streamlined resident self-service and SSO with Ubisecure

A Ubisecure Case Study

Preview of the Brighton and Hove City Council Case Study

Self - service and SSO for local government services

Brighton and Hove City Council needed a secure, user-friendly way for residents to manage interactions with council services — including Council Tax, Rubbish and Recycling, school place applications and Parking Permits — and to support single sign-on to a third‑party cloud council tax service. To meet this challenge the council (serving roughly 300,000 residents) launched MyAccount in February 2020 using Ubisecure’s digital identity APIs and Identity Platform.

Ubisecure delivered MyAccount with self‑service registration, account management and SSO across council and third‑party systems, reducing manual password resets and IT support overhead (a single manual reset can cost over £50, per Forrester). The solution improved user satisfaction and security, enabled easy revocation and future additions (MFA and more services) via an API‑first platform, and streamlined access for ~300,000 residents — demonstrating measurable operational savings and a stronger security posture driven by Ubisecure.
