A Ubiquiti Case Study
Bartlett Independent School District, a five‑acre campus in Bartlett, Texas serving over 400 students (Pre‑K–12), faced poor Wi‑Fi penetration across 45 needed locations due to solid concrete buildings, long hallways and limited ceiling power. After cost‑prohibitive cabling proposals, the district evaluated Ubiquiti’s UniFi wireless platform (deployed by regional ISP SOS Communications) to meet campus connectivity needs.
SOS installed a trial of three Ubiquiti UniFi UAP‑PRO access points (delivering ~10 Mbps up/down) and then rolled out just 10 APs—fewer than the 12–14 initially estimated—covering the entire campus in about a day and a half. The Ubiquiti UniFi solution increased concurrent users from ~10 to ~50, enabled widespread classroom online learning and self‑paced curriculum, prompted plans to double the Internet backbone from 10 to 20 Mbps, and reportedly saved the district “tens of thousands of dollars” versus cabling alternatives.
