A Ubiquiti Case Study
Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District, a small rural K–12 district in southeastern Texas, needed a complete network overhaul to support 1:1 tablets, reliable broadband for extensive online learning, and access to an offsite student information system. To meet requirements for dual‑WAN (500 Mbps each), 10G fiber between sites, and high‑density Wi‑Fi for 2,700 users, the district selected Ubiquiti solutions including UniFi HD APs, UniFi PoE and 10G switches, and EdgeRouter Infinity (installed and deployed by SkyRider Communications).
Ubiquiti’s UniFi platform was deployed as a full replacement—175 UAP‑AC‑HD APs, 10G routing and aggregation (EdgeRouter Infinity, US‑16‑XG), and 42 UniFi PoE switches—connected by a 10G backbone and dual 500 Mbps fiber links. The Ubiquiti solution delivered dependable, high‑performance Wi‑Fi and simplified management with the UniFi Controller; site interconnectivity increased tenfold, server directory response times dropped significantly, and the district now reliably supports its 2,700 students and staff and cloud‑based services.
