A Ubiquiti Case Study
Aldinga Beach B-7 School, a primary school in Aldinga, South Australia serving about 680 students and 70 staff, was hampered by an aging 2.4 GHz–only wireless network with spotty coverage and low throughput just as a BYOD/interactive‑learning program and National Broadband Network (NBN) access increased demand. Seeking a scalable Wi‑Fi upgrade and an integrated public‑address system on a tight budget, the school worked with Leader Computers to deploy Ubiquiti solutions, including UniFi AC EDU APs, UniFi PoE switches, the UniFi Controller, and the UniFi EDU mobile app.
Ubiquiti implemented a campus‑wide UniFi deployment (including 54 UAP‑AC‑EDU units plus outdoor and Pro APs and multiple UniFi switches) to put an AP in each classroom, integrate high‑quality PA, and centralize management with features like Band Steering and Minimum RSSI. The upgrade delivered reliable, higher‑performance Wi‑Fi (speed test ~51.9 Mb/s down, ~65.1 Mb/s up, graded A+ and faster than 95% of Australia), automated/room‑level announcements, and came in AUD $12,775 under budget while providing roughly 300% more devices and coverage.
