Ubiquiti Serves WiFi to Two Thirds of The UK’s Military Personnel

The British Armed Forces needed ubiquitous, standards‑compliant recreational Internet across military barracks in the UK and Germany because personnel previously had to use single on‑site suites for access. To provide campus‑wide roaming, VoIP, streaming and gaming support while meeting MOD installation requirements and rapid emergency deployment needs, Wifinity partnered with vendor Ubiquiti and deployed Ubiquiti’s UniFi solution.

Wifinity installed the Ubiquiti UniFi system (plus EdgeSwitch XP, Rocket and NanoStation units and airFiber links), deploying over 2,000 UniFi access points across 68 barracks to serve 41,000 bed spaces—more than 65% of UK Armed Forces residential quarters. The cloud‑managed UniFi controller enabled remote administration, fast troubleshooting and a 10‑day emergency install that supported 3,500 personnel, delivering portable, campus‑wide Internet and measurable scale and reliability from Ubiquiti equipment.
