Ubiquiti Serves Wi-Fi to Two Thirds of The UK’s Military Personnel

Wifinity, the largest supplier of recreational Internet to UK and German military locations, needed to move from single-site Wi‑Fi suites to ubiquitous, portable connectivity so service personnel could use VoIP, on‑demand TV and game consoles across bases. To meet the Ministry of Defence’s requirements for secure, scalable campus Wi‑Fi, Wifinity selected Ubiquiti’s UniFi system as its core solution.

Wifinity deployed Ubiquiti UniFi (alongside EdgeSwitch, Rocket, NanoStation and airFiber units) to cover 68 barracks and more than 100 Regiments/Units—serving some 41,000 bed spaces and over 65% of the UK’s Armed Forces—with over 2,000 UniFi access points and 200+ airFiber links. The Ubiquiti solution enabled campus‑wide roaming, a portable single‑account experience, rapid 10‑day emergency deployments, and centralized cloud management that reduced on‑site support and simplified large‑scale operations.
