Avera eCARE, the world’s leading telehealth provider affiliated with Avera Health, wanted to expand specialized senior care in assisted living communities as the population aged and staffing shortages strained direct care teams. To improve access, speed treatment, support staff, and reduce unnecessary clinic and emergency room visits, Avera eCARE partnered with TytoCare and its on-demand medical exam platform.

TytoCare helped Avera eCARE bring telehealth into senior living facilities so residents could be assessed remotely by geriatric-trained clinicians guiding onsite staff through exams. The results were significant: 93% of urgent care encounters were treated in place, only about 5% of residents were transferred to the ED via EMS after implementation, and transfers dropped from more than 25% before TytoCare and eCARE to roughly 5% afterward, while also improving confidence for families and reducing on-call burden for providers.
