A TYPO3 Case Study
The City of Utrecht, a regional municipality in the Netherlands, wanted to improve its digital service delivery and align with growing digitization while reducing dependence on telephone and desk support. To do this, the municipality needed a modern website and content management approach that could support multiple subsites, accessibility, and efficient online service for citizens and businesses. TYPO3 was selected as the new CMS, mainly because Utrecht wanted an open source system.
With TYPO3, the City of Utrecht implemented a responsive, digitally accessible website with centralized content management and reusable content blocks. TYPO3’s built-in accessibility guidelines helped editors work consistently and keep the site compliant, while central content reuse saved significant time on updates such as address information. As a result, the municipality improved efficiency, strengthened service online, and reduced the need for manual updates and support interactions.
