Tyler's Orion software empowers staff in offices across the state of Kansas

The Kansas Department of Revenue’s Property Valuation Division (PVD) manages property valuation for all 105 counties but struggled with disparate, on-premises servers, paper-based workflows (notably a cumbersome percent-complete construction form), data integrity issues, and time-consuming rekeying. The division needed a modern CAMA and field-assessment solution with reporting, GIS mapping, import/export tools, and configurable features to standardize processes and support counties more efficiently.

Kansas implemented Tyler’s Orion platform statewide, including Orion Field Mobile, and centralized most county servers under the PVD. Custom percent-complete screens, mobile data entry, batch jobs, and automated reports reduced field time, eliminated duplicate data entry and paper forms, and improved quality control. As a result, counties gained consistent, efficient workflows, better accountability, and a smoother, more equitable experience for taxpayers.
