Transformed communication and jury management processes during pandemic using Tyler Jury

The Placer County Superior Court, a longtime Tyler Jury client and 2021 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Award winner, faced the challenge of maintaining timely communication and safely managing jurors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The court needed more flexible messaging and better data to predict juror attendance so it could plan summons and physical distancing in courtrooms.

Working with Tyler, the court implemented expanded text and email capabilities—prescheduled messages, daily automated reminders, and customized messages to specific juror pools—and enhanced the online jury portal. Those changes let staff predict attendance within two to three jurors, tailor COVID-19 and reporting communications, and optimize summons numbers and court space; the court also reached the Advanced Electronic level of the e‑Court Maturity Model.
