A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Rowan County, North Carolina, a municipal government serving about 142,000 residents and a Tyler client since 2010, faced challenges getting the most from its Munis ERP after staff migrated from a limited legacy system. New Munis specialist Peter Molleur found the county’s chart of accounts and implementation could be improved, and the need for precise, auditable tracking of COVID‑19 and other grant funds made those shortcomings urgent.
Molleur reworked the chart of accounts and deployed Munis’ Project & Grant Accounting—creating a master COVID‑19 project with subprojects and setting each DSS grant up as a project—to enable multi‑year tracking and detailed reporting without cluttering the general ledger. The change simplified reporting (more than 25 pandemic‑related projects tracked), saved time, reduced month‑end rushes by allowing open months and retroactive adjustments, and unlocked additional Munis functionality for ongoing process improvements.
