Town Evaluates Software Processes to Increase Efficiency

The Town of Clarkdale, Arizona, a small municipality using Tyler’s Incode® ERP since 2008, faced a rapidly growing workload in 2016 with no capacity to hire more staff. A review found the software was underutilized and processes were inefficient—incorrect business license processing, extensive manual data entry, and permits tracked outside the system led to inaccurate reports and incomplete records.

Clarkdale conducted a full evaluation with staff and Tyler support, updated workflows, cleaned up balances and old permits, created templates, and began using Incode’s features correctly. The changes sped permit processing (average 8.25 days for new home permits, 2.6 days for others), reduced manual work, improved reporting and customer service, uncovered untracked permit balances that triggered an audit, and exceeded estimated permit fee revenue by more than $20,000.
