Technology Driven Reappraisal Spurs Recurring Tax Revenue

Williamson Central Appraisal District (WCAD) in Williamson County, Texas, oversees annual revaluations for about 135,000 parcels and needed a reliable, efficient way to verify property data to meet legal, budget and time constraints. The district’s goals were to boost taxpayer and appraiser confidence, streamline street‑level image verification to reduce labor and costs, and establish a sound baseline for future revaluations.

WCAD partnered with Tyler Verify and Orion to collect high‑definition street imagery, overlay CAMA sketch vectors on ortho‑imagery, and resolve most discrepancies via desktop review, reserving field visits only when necessary. The five‑month project corrected 11% of parcels, uncovering $88.5 million in improvement value and generating $2.2 million in recurring tax revenue, while improving transparency, taxpayer trust and a defendable baseline for future appraisals.
