A Tyler Technologies Case Study
State College, Pennsylvania—a borough of about 42,000 and home to Penn State—faced growing cyberthreats but had no dedicated cybersecurity staff and limited time to review daily network activity. After evaluating monitoring options and SIEM tools that would still require in-house management, the town sought a third-party solution to shore up defenses and reduce the risk of a data breach.
They deployed Tyler Detect, a managed threat-detection service with 24/7 analyst monitoring and a user portal for visibility and historical review. Since going live in May 2019, Tyler Detect has provided real-time alerts and actionable intelligence (for example, flagging a VPN login from Aruba that turned out to be an employee), helped the IT team proactively educate users, improved efficiency, and materially reduced the town’s exposure to malicious activity.
