A Tyler Technologies Case Study
San Jose Unified School District (San Jose, CA), serving 32,500 students with a $270M budget and about 3,000 employees, needed to modernize under its OPPORTUNITY21 strategic plan. The Macintosh-based district faced paper-driven workflows, information silos, multiple logins, limited end-user training and weak business intelligence, and aimed to align budget, resources and technology on a fast timeline.
SJUSD implemented Tyler Munis and related modules—finance, HR/payroll, ESS, applicant tracking, dashboards, single sign‑on and SQL analytical services—plus training resources and electronic PD registration. The result was streamlined, integrated processes, reduced staff frustration and redundancies, improved operational intelligence and reporting, and better alignment of technology with district business practices and ROI.
