A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Tyler Technologies worked with the Salina (KS) Police Department when a rash of nighttime business burglaries threatened the northeast quadrant of the city. Investigators noticed a repeating modus operandi—phone lines cut at each target, broken windows or doors in some cases, and thefts reported the following business day—so the department needed a way to connect incidents and focus patrols efficiently.
Using Tyler’s records system and mapping/data-analysis tools, civilian staff compiled and mapped incidents to identify hotspots and patterns, allowing officers to concentrate nighttime business checks in the affected corridors. Patrols discovered suspects in the act, made arrests, connected 17 related cases and recovered stolen property—demonstrating how targeted, data-driven policing stopped the crime spree.
