Safe Installation of Technical Systems

British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA) is the provincial regulator that oversees the safe installation and operation of electrical, gas, boiler and pressure vessel, elevating devices, railways, passenger ropeways and amusement rides across British Columbia (population ~4.4 million). BCSA faced logistical and operational challenges from the province’s rugged, remote geography and a highly varied client base — from sole contractors to large oil-and-gas operators — which left inspectors working offline for days and relying on manual, time-consuming processes.

BCSA implemented Tyler Technologies’ EnerGov civic services software and used its open APIs to build custom solutions, including an iPad app that works offline and syncs back to the central database. The result was eliminated manual tasks, increased mobility and productivity for field staff, smoother client interactions through tailored interfaces, and the flexibility to develop additional tools (mobile portals, resource-allocation utilities) to further streamline high-volume workflows.
