Reducing Property Assessment and Taxation Inaccuracies through Improved Access to Data

Fulton County, Georgia — the state’s largest county with more than 1,033,000 residents and roughly 348,000 housing units — faced growing difficulties managing property assessment and taxation on aging legacy systems (MAS and OASIS). The county needed a modern, accessible solution to replace outdated CAMA and tax billing software, improve homestead exemption accuracy, and eliminate time-consuming manual processes.

Fulton implemented Tyler’s web‑based iasWorld across the tax commissioner and assessor offices, customizing screens and reports and automating tasks like nightly tax adjustments and mass appraisals. The rollout corrected more than 15,000 misidentified homestead exemptions, eliminated all parcel overrides within two years, reduced tax bill processing from weeks to nine days, and delivered more accurate, up‑to‑date property values and streamlined operations.
