A Tyler Technologies Case Study
The Dutch Transit Authority (RDW) set out to make national vehicle data openly available to citizens and partners but faced challenges around accuracy, availability under unpredictable traffic spikes, and early pushback against cloud-based public data. Their goal was to increase transparency, support third-party innovation across the mobility ecosystem, and provide reliable, real-time access to large, complex datasets.
RDW partnered with Tyler’s Data & Insights to build an automatically updating open-data portal on an enterprise data platform that scales on demand. The platform now serves 14.4 million vehicle records to more than 18,000 registered sites and apps, with API usage growing from 45 million monthly calls in 2016 to about 150 million in 2019, enabling apps for insurance comparison, parts lookup, environmental-zone checks, fraud prevention and greater citizen engagement at no incremental cost to RDW.
