A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Tyler Technologies worked with Newtown Emergency Communications Center in Newtown, Connecticut — a small, volunteer-supported agency serving five volunteer fire departments and a volunteer ambulance corps. After the state adopted a new statewide law enforcement CAD, Newtown’s director worried the change wouldn’t meet the unique needs of volunteer responders and could overburden dispatchers, so the agency needed a compatible, mission‑critical solution that wouldn’t slow call handling.
Newtown kept the New World Fire & EMS application running alongside the law‑enforcement CAD so dispatchers could use a familiar interface and quickly enter calls. The combined setup meets the town’s 60‑second dispatch standard and supplies GIS mapping and scene details (hydrants, solar panels, key boxes, hazard info, COVID alerts), enabling faster, better-informed decisions for volunteer crews — including units without mobile data terminals — while remaining user‑friendly and well supported.
